Everyone loves Anvik! They serve a seven course dinner to the first musher here, as well as a cash award. I love it because it's right on the Yukon River - what a beautiful sight! The woods, lakes and woodlands are so peaceful here.
We’re resting and the dogs are eating. The race gives us 2,500 pounds of food for the entire race for my team. Since there’s 25 checkpoints after Anchorage, about how many pounds do you figure I should use for the dogs at each stop? Now that I’m down to ten dogs on the team, how many pounds of food does that allow me for each dog when they eat?
I’d appreciate any help you can give me on this – I can’t use a calculator with my gloves on! We’re off to Grayling. Have your hands warmed up from the blubber mittens yet?
